Our leadership team have a wealth of experience to ensure your project runs smoothly, on time and on budget.
Our site managers all hold the necessary qualifications to manage sites safely and efficiently. They all hold SMSTS, CSCS black card and First Aid qualifications. All our site managers, in particular Neil Esward and Maurice Wardle, have worked for Newark & Sherwood on numerous projects over recent years, so have developed and understanding on the key project requirements and drivers.

John Capper
Co Founder and Owner
In 2006, John created Oakworth Homes, a timber engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and erection of off-site manufactured homes. Oakworth has continued to grow and is now accompanied by several other companies that John is involved with as a director/share holder in varying degrees. These include Midland Renewables (specialising in the design, supply, installation & commissioning of renewable energy heating & ventilation systems), Carnival Developments (an SPV developing homes as a speculative developer) and more recently, Oakworth Construction Ltd, established in 2022.
A very hard-working individual, with a very good reputation for delivering what has been agreed. John values integrity, both personally and from the people around him. He also values hard work and being able to provide the people his teams with the opportunity to develop themselves and their careers. John enjoys growing businesses and has the support of his family in this regard. He would describe himself as hardworking, reliable, practical, openminded & efficient with a passion for getting it right!

Craig Pygall
Co Founder and Owner
Together with John Capper, Craig is one of the two founding partners and owners of Oakworth Construction. With over 30 years in the construction industry, Craig has gained invaluable knowledge and skills to ensure the construction company provides the service our clients deserve. We have created a company that has clear lines of communication with responsibility and accountability at our centre.
Oakworth strives for a one team approach in everything we do. Bringing the project team together under the one goal brings greater success for all, from the client, design team through to our supply chain partners. We all share the common goal of successfully delivering projects.
Craig has over 15 years’ experience working with local authorities, including Newark and Sherwood. We secured and completed the envelope works for Seven Hills (£1.4 million) and subsequently secured the 2nd stage works to complete the whole project (£1.5 million).
Honesty, integrity, and determination are personal values of Craig that drive his behaviours in life and work.

Qualifications
OHC and HNC in building studies, IOB in surveying, Peplow management training – Leadership gateway, Prince 2 Project management.
Dan King
Commercial Director
With a strong commercial background, and continuous progression throughout his 20-year career in the construction industry, Dan has succeeded in roles based in Quantity Surveying, and Commercial Management.
Having started his career as a Trainee QS, in 2004, following completion of his degree, Dan has most recently progressed from Senior Quantity Surveyor to Commercial Manager to Commercial Director.
Dan was recently involved in the successful delivery of the Broadleaves development, for NSDC, in Boughton. Prior to this Dan assisted in setting and commercial control of Woodhead Living which successfully delivered over 200 social housing homes per annum.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Reporting – Detailed proactive cost reporting, outlining current expenditure and monthly forecasts
- Benchmarking data and identifying best value materials and sub-contractors
- Produce and send timely valuations
- Report on variations, Provisional sum expenditure and final account forecasts.
Qualifications
Construction Management Degree.
Jonathan Rees
Operations Director
Jon is a self-motivated and highly focused Operations lead. With over 15 years’ experience in Construction Project Management, including residential new build, commercial developments and retail. With a passionate outlook on managing, Jon’s focus is always to deliver maximised operational and project efficiency through effective communication and resource management. Jon is proficient in co-ordinating and delivering projects from the initial business case through to the completion and handover to the client.
Jon has heavily involved in the 5-year new build Framework, with NSDC, developing an excellent client relationship, delivering over 200 properties over several infill sites within Newark and Sherwood District.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for Health and Safety on all sites
- Co-ordination of supply chain and sub-contractors, including the design team
- Delivering to weekly programmes / milestones, completing weekly audits and inspections
- Tool box talks and quality checks
Qualifications
NVQ level 7 Construction management, CSCS, Prince 2 Project Management.
